Broodmare Division

Broodmare and Foal Manager

Broodmare and Foal Manager Mike Chamblee and his staff are responsible for the Bridlewood broodmare band and their foals.

Mike manages his team of dedicated horsemen and works closely with the farm veterinarian to oversee all aspects of the mares’ daily care. He is a consummate horseman and has been with Bridlewood since 1995. His knowledge is invaluable, and his skills exceptional. Under his caring approach, mares are bred and foaled while the foals and weanlings receive his thoughtful attention.  Mike's strong work ethic, hands-on approach, and pride in his staff are always evident.

Main Foaling Barn

Barn 1 is the main foaling barn at Bridlewood. This barn, not unlike all the barns at Bridlewood, it is kept meticulously clean. Each broodmare barn has very large foaling stalls bedded deeply with fresh straw.

During the foaling season, Barn 1 is staffed at all times. Over a 100 mares are foaled at this location each year.

Four-Board Fencing is Safer for Young Foals

Four-board fencing, surrounds the large broodmare paddocks.

Large Spacious Paddocks

One of the sprawling paddocks which mares and foals enjoy is tested regularly to be certain that the nutritional qualities are properly maintained.

Pasture maintenance throughout the farm is a high priority.
