Yearling Division

Kim McKibben receives the transfer of young stock from Mike Chamblee's Broodmare and Foal Division late in the weanling to yearling stage. These young colts and fillies require special care and attention as they grow and develop into more powerful and competitive athletes.

Along with her dedicated staff, Kim carefully proceeds with the often demanding task of overseeing the yearlings, preparing them for sale, if that is the course, and dealing with the daily responsibilities and nuances of raising top Thoroughbred racing prospects.

Large Rolling Paddocks

The pond is a favorite spot for the yearling fillies who call this very large rolling paddock home. The expansive paddock offers plenty of room to run, play and graze.  Often, a gentle breeze flows through the large live oak trees, and the shallow spring-fed pond adds to the serenity.

European "Free Walker"

The yearling division boasts a self-contained walker which allows up to six horses to excercise safely with limited restriction and no connection to the unit.

A "horse's eye" view of the free walker

Inner walls are lined with heavy and durable rubber compound mats and the walking surface is covered with small rubber pieces.  The cushioning enhances the safety and comfort aspects of the walker.

A Misty Dawn at Bridlewood

A small group of yearling colts huddle together as the misty dawn breaks.
