Tunwoo, a son of worldwide leading sire Medaglia d’Oro and trained by Bob Baffert, will stand his first season at stud in 2019 at Bridlewood Farm.
As one of Medaglia d’Oro’s only sons in Florida, he offers breeders a unique opportunity at $2,500 live foal, stands and nurses.
Though his career was cut short after just one start, Tunwoo’s robust pedigree gives him every right to succeed as a stallion. His sire has more than 110 black type winners across the globe, with earnings in excess of $100 million.
On the female side, his dam Sea Gift, by the preeminent sire A.P. Indy, has produced five winners, including graded stakes winner Chitu, who also stands at Bridlewood. Tunwoo’s second and third dams were both graded stakes winners who both produced multiple stakes winners.
Tunwoo was offered for sale at the 2016 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Year sale, where he brought a top bid of $775,000.
His Hall of Fame trainer offered this upon Tunwoo’s retirement: “He was working like a superstar before he got injured. He’s a great looking horse by the right sire.”
