A half-sister to two-time champion Beholder was purchased by Bridlewood Farm for $1.1 million during first day of the Keeneland September yearling sale, with Bridlewood general manager George Isaacs signing the ticket for the daughter of Curlin.
Consigned by Clarkland Farm as hip No. 29, the filly is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner and sire Into Mischief. Clarkland’s Fred Mitchell noted that the filly is the second by Curlin out of the mare Leslie’s Lady.
“I said, ‘When you get an individual that looks like that, why not breed the mare back to him,’ noted Mitchell. “You never know in today’s market what they’re going to do. We knew she was a very, very nice, special filly.”
“Obviously she’s a very nice filly, by the leading third-crop stallion (Curlin), a half-sister to champion 2- and 3-year-old filly Beholder, and a half-sister to (Grade 1 winner and sire) Into Mischief,” added Isaacs. “She’s got a huge pedigree and looks like she can run. (She represents a) foundation-type family for Bridlewood Farm.”
