Bridlewood Cat was brilliant in breaking her maiden Oct. 13 at Belmont Park, just her second lifetime start, as she rolled to a 11 1/4-length maiden special weight win going six furlongs for Bridlewood Farm and trainer Jonathan Thomas (VIDEO).
The 3-year-old daughter of Street Sense, which Bridlewood Farm acquired out of the 2017 Keeneland September Yearling sale, came out running and was up a length after a quarter-mile in a quick :22.69. Maintaining that margin on the turn, she began to widen her lead turning for home and poured it on through the stretch to stop the timer in 1:09.27 and earn a sparkling Beyer Speed Figure of 92.
Bridlewood Cat picked up $41,250 in victory. Bred by Ashview Farms and Colts Neck Stable, Bridlewood Cat is a half-sister to Spinaway S. (G1) winner Sweet Loretta. She is out of the stakes-placed Ithinkisawapudycat, who is a half-sister to Canadian champion 2-year-old filly Spring in the Air, who also won the Alcibiades S. (G1) at Keeneland.
